Today is a very special day in the Huber household...

July 29th is a very special day in the Huber household. Twenty-one years ago today, God delivered to Joni and me a precious bundle of joy... Nikkae Marie. Thoughts of gratefulness overwhelm the heart of her mother and me when we reflect on the goodness of our Heavenly Father in granting us such a wonderful daughter.

What tribute can be given to a daughter who has been completely loyal and faithful and in so many ways has established a legacy as a woman who professes godliness? The answer is found in Psalm 144 where we read David describing for us what a prosperous people looks like. Verse 126 mentions precious daughters; "...that our daughters may be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace."

To me, this verse yokes together strength and beauty. What a perfect union of words to describe our gift from God. The NKJV translation states it this way; "...that our daughters may be as pillars sculptured in palace style." By God's grace the Huber household has enjoyed the presence of a special cornerstone for twenty-one years now. "Thank you God for the strength and beauty you have placed in our home." Life is so sweet when it includes God-fearing daughters.

Nikkae, we love you.

Benjamin's Birthday!

Last weekend we celebrated yet another year in the life of Benjamin Robert. His actual date of birth was July 24th and this year that date fell on a Sunday. If you have ever been around this household on a Sunday you know that a birthday celebration is rather difficult to squeeze into that day! This being the case, we all decided to have Benjamin's party on Saturday evening. This proved to work out wonderfully and he had a great night filled with gifts, dinner, rice crispy treats and ice cream :) He was full of smiles all evening (great for pictures) and exclamations of delight. We are grateful for the five full years God has given Benjamin to our family and our prayer is that he will grow to be mighty in body and spirit for the work of our Heavenly King.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJAMIN :)

Life without Katherine

My dear sweet sister has taken wings and gone away to the land of MO. She is dearly missed and will be welcomed home with grateful hearts at the end of this week after a total of fifteen days away. This may seem like a wee amount of time to our readers...But then, you have never had Katherine for a sister/daughter!

It's not so much the extra duties that need to be filled in her absence or the extra arms to carry the little ones. But rather her sweet smile and joyful ways that have me and everyone else missing her so. I miss our chats at night at the end of my bed and laughing with her in the kitchen as we make dinner. She is not here to peep her head through the door and ask me what I'm doing, and there is no light on in her closet at night as she reads and prays.

Small absences such as these make me realize how blessed I am and also remind me that someday life will be quite different than it is now. I will forever be grateful for the years we all have together as a family and may the Lord grant us wonderful spouses that we may begin such sweet memories with in our own homes someday.

We know that you are having a relaxing trip Kath, and that those who are hosting you are grateful to have you... But don't forget to come home :)

POST ON BENJAMIN'S 5TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION COMING SOON! Stay tuned for details :)

The Joys of Children

A moment ago I was considering the happiness that children bring into the world. They remind us of the simple pleasures that are all around but that we often forget to partake of. Oh yes, challenges arise from their wayward little steps, but the smiles and giggles that emerge from their daily felicities far out way the duties of their care. What would our lives be without their simple ways and interesting questions? Their romping noises and hugs? May we always remember to learn from the lessons they teach us each day and never squelch their delight by our worries. God has truly blessed man with a precious and invaluable gift...CHILDREN.
