Life without Katherine

My dear sweet sister has taken wings and gone away to the land of MO. She is dearly missed and will be welcomed home with grateful hearts at the end of this week after a total of fifteen days away. This may seem like a wee amount of time to our readers...But then, you have never had Katherine for a sister/daughter!

It's not so much the extra duties that need to be filled in her absence or the extra arms to carry the little ones. But rather her sweet smile and joyful ways that have me and everyone else missing her so. I miss our chats at night at the end of my bed and laughing with her in the kitchen as we make dinner. She is not here to peep her head through the door and ask me what I'm doing, and there is no light on in her closet at night as she reads and prays.

Small absences such as these make me realize how blessed I am and also remind me that someday life will be quite different than it is now. I will forever be grateful for the years we all have together as a family and may the Lord grant us wonderful spouses that we may begin such sweet memories with in our own homes someday.

We know that you are having a relaxing trip Kath, and that those who are hosting you are grateful to have you... But don't forget to come home :)

POST ON BENJAMIN'S 5TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION COMING SOON! Stay tuned for details :)

Woah, Nikkae! Easy on those headlines.

I suppose there could be various ways to look at this headline, sorry to scare you. What were you thinking? I would never neglect to notify you of any serious happenings in the Huber household. You give me far too little credit :)

We had a joyous visit with Katherine today at the Zes's home--fun for us . . but I know you all are looking forward to your sister's return. : )

"Life With Katherine"-- every day is filled with merry hearted laughter, an over abundance of wit, very late nights of talking (in honor of our motto, Kae), and much, much joy. Don't worry, because we're keeping her busy, too (just not with ironing :) and keeping her very well fed (I fear ice cream is partly to blame!). We, her hosts, I mean surrogate family, are truly grateful to have spent this time with her. She has been such a delight and blessing and I shall miss her immensely when she leaves tomorrow :(

Much love to all of you who are missed as she will be,
    Hannah

    relaxing!?!?!?!?!
come on, give me a break!

I only slept until ... - it is too embarrassing to give the time.

I am glad to know that my family has not forgotten me. Thanks for the lovely post Kae.

    Life with Katherine Part 2

Today I pick up my not-so-little sister from the airport in Houston. Its not everyday that I get to be with her by myself, so we are going to make the most of it.

It seems she is becoming quite the popular girl.

Why wouldn't she be popular, Nate? She's the only brunette in a family of blondes. Scarcity leads to high value!

Welcome back to muggy Texas, Katherine.

Thanks Nate for such a kind comment! I had a delightful time with you last night by myself. It was great to see you again.

Tim, thanks for the welcome, it's great to be back home.

    Kath,
I don't think Tim has experienced the feeling of "muggy"....

  • At 6:34 PM, Blogger Tim said…

Au contraire, Hannah. Houston definitely equals "muggy," and I have experienced Houston.

Methinks thou dost too hastily pronounce judgment, mademoiselle. St. Louis does not possess all of America's mugginess, you know. :)
