"Can you do this like Daddy?"

Sunday morning while we were all getting ready for church, Christian came and tugged on my skirt saying "do this like Daddy...Kae, do this like Daddy." At first I was confused. "Do what?" I said. He had a pencil in his hand and kept rubbing it on his head. Then it hit me...when Dad studies, he always keeps a sharpened pencil propped on one ear to replace the one in his hand when it becomes dull. Christian wanted to be like his Daddy. Funny how that is, we all seem to have a twinkle eyed view of our fathers and want to please and be just like them. It hit me that we as Christians often neglect that same passionate desire to become like our heavenly Father. It is He who gave us life, breath and a purpose for being. Saved us from our eternal damnation and in return gives us an eternity with Him. Striving to be holy as He is holy is a daunting and often times exhausting task, yet with His power all things are possible.
