Majella Society Dinner

Ever heard of the Majella Society? We hadn't, that is until a friend of ours (Gale Sayers)informed us of a gala dinner in Austin to benefit the group. She asked us to come be a part of her table! After reading up on what it was all about, we were thrilled!! The Majella Society is an organization based in Austin that promotes protecting the life of the unborn and the health of expectant mothers. Through media, this ministry proclaims the message that there are other options than the popular and "easy" way of terminating unwanted pregnancies. This topic touches the heart strings of many in our family so we reveled in the events of the evening. We rode up to Austin with our friends the Spradlings and had a lovely time catching up on various events going on in our lives. Upon arriving at the hotel, we looked around...it was luxury, breathtaking richness! Oh, and the food...fancy stuff. The dessert was the most amazing :) A full plate of options to explore! What a life, could have stayed there for days.

Okay, back the reason we were there... Laura Ingraham (the well known morning talk show host) was the guest speaker for the evening. She reminded us to keep our candles glowing bright in the vast darkness of this world. The media promotes the message they want heard and forget many of the most important things in life. It is for us to stand strong amidst the overwhelming tide of popular thinking and spread the word of life...that our Savior lives! That is why we fight for life and minister to confused mothers who may think there is no other option but to ignore the precious baby within them.

One of the saddest stories I have ever heard was shared that night about a woman who had five abortions before God turned her world upside down. It was during the fifth abortion that she sensed something wrong and was very uncomfortable. The doctor had to leave to acquire larger tools to finish off the life of her helpless baby since the mother was in her second trimester...he was frustrated and cold declaring that more money was needed to finish "the job". After $150 was procured as an extra fee, and the doctor went to finish his work, the mother cried, "stop, I don't want to do this...I've changed my mind". The doctor gruffly replied back, "it's too late!" and finished the procedure. The mother became extremely ill and after a hospital visit later that week revealed that her abortion was incomplete and that her severe pain was the result of infection...the nurse explained that parts of her child were still inside her! "My child?" she cried, "I understood it to be a fetus, a blob of tissue, what are you saying?". The nurse twitched realizing her "mistake" in referencing the fetus as a real baby! She quickly changed her vocabulary and finished the appointment. That horror filled week forever changed the life of the woman...she now shares her story with others and pleads with mothers to embrace the life that God has placed within them!

You too can help this ministry! Every dollar provides more air time for their ministry commercials...Every prayer, storms the gates of heaven. Please consider getting involved and making a difference. If all we end up doing is saving the life of one single child, all will be worth it. Let us say as our Lord did,"Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14)
