New Post :)

Alright, we have finally given in to the "popular demand" for a new post. Hope you enjoyed it because it is far too late (or shall I say early) for me to write anything more. If I did, it wouldn't be worth reading!

"You must be a Saint!"

I have heard those words said to my mother dozens of times growing up. She always would have to explain to fellow shoppers that the children gathered around her were really ALL hers! I also hear many folks say "God bless you honey!" and my mother will respond, "Oh, He has, 11 times". Mom has always cherished life and the simple but whole-hearted love a child has for his or her Mommy. I grew up watching her feed and care for babies and always see in her face a joy that passed my understanding...especially in the middle of the night when a little one wouldn't go to sleep. I have grown up anticipating the life of wife and mother because Mom always spoke so highly of a woman's mission and I will forever remember her example when I want to complain about the tough times because Mom has often told me, "It's all worth it honey".

Happy Birthday Mother. Thank you for being faithful even in the little things of life and for laying your life down that we might live. You have taught us truth by living it out. May God fill the rest of your days with the warm sunshine of His love and may He fill your cup to overflowing with His richest blessings! We all love you.

Deer Fellowship

One of the greatest joys in the Christian life is to spend time with other believers. This past Saturday we were able to spend an entire day working alongside some families the Lord has allowed us to join with in starting a church in the Floresville area. What was the occasion you ask? The best way to answer that question is by saying, "An answer to prayer". You see, the cooks at the Huber household have been praying diligently for a source of meat, and God delivered in a way far above our expectations.

The "unusual" fellowship time on Saturday actually began on Friday when Nathan, Brandon, Anthony, and Jonathan worked with Rocky Roberts and his son Riley in skinning and quartering up 16 deer. Rocky is the manager of the Arrow S Ranch. I wasn't able to get in on the "fun" because I was playing electrician in the house next door. After a successful day (except for no pictures) we went home and rested up for the busy day to follow.

Saturday was filled with deboning, grinding, packaging, and labeling the meat from the 16 deer and 10 hogs. Praise the Lord for friends who know what they are doing and for antique grinders that just keep on going. We, along with the Roberts, Schmidts, and Caseys were able to complete the project, as well as clean-up, by 8:30 P.M. What a delight to see everybody chipping in to put the finishing touches on an incredible answer to prayer.

Thanks so much to Rocky and Tonya for heading up this remarkable day. We learned lots and now the freezers are full. If you're traveling through Texas, stop by for some delicious backstrap, tenderloins, roast, and burgers. We'll invite others over and enjoy great fellowship as we feast on God's goodness. Praise the Lord for an unforgetable day!!

Laundry

Some folks have scheduled times to do their laundry and some rarely need do it at all. Then there are others that must do it for the better portion of EVERYDAY! The latter is the case in the Huber household and so the consequences of our washing machine breaking down is well, CATASTROPHIC!!! The last load we put through our machine was done on Saturday and since then it has been out of commission. The result, three and a half hours spent at the laundry mat today :) Oh, don't worry, we weren't bored. There are all sorts of interesting people that spend their days at the laundry mat so we had a grand time observing. We used up five mega washers and two small ones and then had the loads running in eight dryers...All at once, how cool! The folding counter was a bit too small for our amount of piles so we folded, loaded a basket, folded some more, loaded a basket, then...You get the picture :)
Lesson for the day, every item of clothing folded reminds me of a precious life that has added sunshine to our family. With this in mind, I hope to continue folding mounds of material for the rest of my life!

Nikkae for the family :)
